Improving your attendance at school dances

Keeping your school function both fun and profitable requires more than just hiring a Dj. In this day in age, teens and young adults have a wide variety of leisure activities to choose from, including your school dance. With so many choices, getting students to attend your school dance can be very difficult.

Getting students to your event means competing with movies, concerts, sports, video games, computers, malls, and fast food to name just a few. All of the decisions you must make for your event; your choice of entertainment will have the greatest impact on your events success. Great events don’t “just
happen”, they’re the result of careful planning from the first to the last’ detail.

Promote, Plan, Prepare

Familiarize yourself with these three words, they can make your event easy, profitable, and
fun.

Promote your event well in advance of its actual date. Display posters, announce your dance over the morning school address and give incentives to come. Sell your tickets as early as possible, make them available during lunch or breaks in the cafeteria, student center, or other school
functions. Encourage attendance by selling group rates for slightly less than
the individual price. Don’t assume, “if you schedule it they will come.”

Plan with your teachers, advisers, and student counsel to get ideas on themes, games, and
incentives. Don’t limit yourself by thinking your prizes have to
cost a lot of money and your theme has to be part of a musical period or genre.

Brain storm with your dance committee. Themes can be everything from a Hollywood
premiere, Survivor, Golf tournament, to Back to the Future, Disney, Hawaiian
adventure, weddings, and Game Show etc., etc. There are so many variations.

You can help keep your budget in line by soliciting local merchants to help you
with prizes for your contests and games. Movie theaters, ice cream shops,
arcades and other venues that are frequented by teens and are a great source of
gift certificates and donations. Merchants know that teens and young adults
come in groups and a pair of passes donated usually comes with multiple
customers from groups of teens which accompany those two passes.

Prepare in advance so you don’t have to guess on how many students are coming. Check with
the Dj or entertainer you’ve decided on to hire to see if they
help with posters to promote your dance. Ask them what they could do to assist with novelties that might complement your theme, or special lighting needs.

Help prevent the impact of substance abuse by designing an event which people want
to be sober at. When you incorporate more than music to your event it helps encourage
people of all ages to participate rather than withdrawal. Activities such as
games, contests, and talent shows help unite people through their ability’s and
common goals to connect them in spite of the usual peer pressure one feels to
“fit in”. Use people’s common need to just want to have fun and make new friends.

Have a great event,

Spring is Here!!!

Well folks it looks like the flowers are blooming all around us. Even some of the snow covered areas cant hold it back. Its getting warmer and with the warmth people start planning their parties. Just today I contracted 3 events in the first two hours of opening. Are you ready?

Winter springLets think of our color swatches…..what are the colors of spring?

I’ll be honest…I get great ideas from sites like Pinterest and just searching for Easter type event pictures. This process means you need to start planning ahead of time in order to accomplish the right balance between both children and adult activities. Rentals are very important and can keep the cost down for the items you really won’t use more then once. Keeping to a color theme can really bring out occasion too, You can rent the chairs, tables, and linens to make this theme come to life.

Hope you have a great planning day.

Popular songs for a Quinceanera waltz

I grew up in California’s beautiful San Joaquin Valley where I was lucky to be apart of many Quinceañeras in both my personal and professional life. The word “Quinceañera” describes the coming of age ritual where a young girl renews her baptismal promises and is presented to her community as a young lady.

A traditional Quinceañera is typically celebrated around the girl’s 15th birthday and is celebrated with a party and a mass, with the latter being of more spiritual value since it is the Quinceanera’s presentation before God and her community, and a promise to honor herself and her religion. If you would like to learn more about a “Quinceañera” here is a link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quincea%C3%B1era

During the Celebration it is a tradition for the father to dance with his daughter.

The Quinceanera waltz is one of the most special moments of your celebration and undoubtedly the most emotional moment for your guests. For this reason you must carefully choose which song best reflects this special moment.

The Quinceanera song you choose may be a song dedicated to you by your dad or vice versa, or even a song that symbolizes your coming into age.

The following is a list of popular Quinceanera waltz songs that are timeless as well as a couple of unconventional songs that are still appropriate for the occasion.
